Windows 7 – When computer won’t boot and all else fails

  1. Backup using drive(s) snapshot
  2. delete all partitions
  3. install windows 7
  4. restore drive
  5. run windows 7 repair disk

System may work at this point, if not

  1. bootrec /fixmbr
  2. bootrec /fixboot
  3. bootrec /rebuildbcd

Try now, if not

  1. diskpart
    1. select disk 0
    2. list partition
    3. partition X <- where is probable partition with OS (largest?)
    4. active
    5. quit


  1. sfc /scannow /offbootdir=f:\ /offwindir=f:\window  f=drive of os


  1. bcdedit /export c:\bcdbackup
  2. cd boot
  3. attrib bcd -h -r -s
  4. ren bcd bcd.old
  5. bootrec /rebuildbcd
